 FAQs

  • Yes. The registration covers the cost of participating in FIRE for the entire year. Please note that the cost of attending the NSBE convention or advanced events is not included in the FIRE registration.

  • The season starts in early September and ends in May the following year. Teams meet on Saturdays which averages to three times per month given holidays. Some teams and programs also offer virtual options.

  • Students in grades 5 through 12 can participate. Mature 4th graders can participate as well. Most of the competitions and activities are local. Thus, students from the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) region can participate in our in-person competitions. At this time, MTSE and the FIRE Rocketry Competitions (FRC) are the competitions that students can participate in nationally.
